Global attention around sexual and gender minority rights has risen significantly within the past decade, in large part thanks to the tireless efforts of transnational lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex persons (LGBTI) activists. Yet, while global discourse and research on sexual and gender minorities builds, there remains a reluctance and resistance to systematically incorporate sexuality and gender identity in development and human rights policy and practice.
