CWP response to Conley’s “Imagining the future of literacy instruction in California:” An invitation to engage

Description

As leaders of the California Writing Project (CWP), we were delighted with Amy Conley’s endorsement of CWP as a source of beneficial professional development to support teachers in their writing instruction. In “Imagining the Future of Literacy Instruction in California,” published in the September 2021 issue of California English, Conley reported on the results of her study, which examined what P-12 administrators, literacy educators, and researchers thought should be included in a proposed coursework replacement for the Reading Instruction Competency Assessment (RICA), a required assessment for preservice elementary and special education teachers.
